The Scorching Bay Triathlon (Jan)

68.1kgs.....and Tri no.3 FINISHED

Well despite the infections, and being on antibiotics for 4 weeks and steroids...I managed to (miss a dose of antibiotics as they make me feel crap deliberately the night before the tri) and complete the triathlon (scorching bay) Jan....not a fantastic time......but also came in on my own steam and not in the back of an ambulance....which is what I was a bit worried might actually happen. It was a beautiful day, and there is no better backdrop for exercise than the harbour with big ferries and cruise ships going by...bummer the ferry created a little bit of backwash as we started our swim.... but I didn't swallow too much of the ocean so that was good. Used my new (second hand) wetsuit for the first time....a big thanks to Jules for managing to squish all my bits into it and zip me up before I exploded back out again.....Thank god they are easier to get out of than get in to....otherwise transition would have been tricky....I can see why the swim is at the beginning now!!! Anyway...this weekend is my LAST non-Tri weekend before I hit my 8 triathlons in 8 weeks......part of the challenge. HARD WORK.....not so much the doing of the triathlons....but the early starts and getting into that wetsuit.....those things should come with a bodyhorn.....(shoehorn equivalent!) See you at the next triathlon! Don't forget to donate to the give a little site so we can all make some money for these great charities, I think I might run some extra raffles and maybe have a sushi selling day in the staff room.....to try and get the funds started...as the $0 balance seems to be putting people off donating. Cheers everyone. Kris

OH AND A WEIGH IN CHECK IN TOO

I forgot to update my current weight on this challenge... Despite a sad lack of exercise while being sick, I am still UNDER 70kgs.... Lightest I have been in about 15 years.... So I am currently fluctuating between 69.2 and 69.8 Things are a little unstable with the lack of regular exercise due to being on antibiotics for abscesses and feeling not at my best. Still, I am pleased to be out of the 70s.... Looking forward to being closer to the 50s soon....Should get there by end of first term, now that I am starting training again. Krissie

UPDATE TIME

This post is to include a few updates. First I will update my Cancer Society & Child Cancer Foundation Fundraising Flyer - as I have added some vital information on it, like the link to the give a little website where you can all donate to the above two charities and support my challenge of completing 11 events in 5 months.
I have also now written an article to be published in the Green Prescriptions Magazine. So it is about my journey so far, it can't be published as a JPEG so I can't post it on here - but if you would like to read it then email me on poohtao@xtra.co.nz and I will email you a PDF version of it, shame you can't upload PDFs on here.... As far as other updates go.....I have been posting quite a bit on my facebook page about my current medical hurdles....so if you want to catch up then feel free to join me on facebook as well as on this blog. I think most of the people following this blog are on my friends of facebook list anyway. On the good news front.....I will be completing the next triathlon that is on my challenge list (no.3 of 11) I don't expect to be doing it in great time, and will be careful to pace myself due to being on antibiotics for 3 weeks. But the good thing is that regardless of how long it is likely to take me....I will still be adding it as a completed triathlon on my challenge. I would really love to see some of you followers donate to the Give a Little website (even if it is $5 just to get it started) It's a great cause, and two great charities. I am sticking to my part of the deal and completing the challenges one by one. Please support this if you can. If you would like a PDF Flyer of the challenge to print or email to your networks then I would be happy to email you one. Thanks for checking in. THE TWIGSTER IS BACK!!!! Roll on Saturday (can't wait to get that triathlon completed, so I can feel back in control again) Cheers Krissie (aka "The Twigster")

Proof of April Loses It Success

New Zealand Woman's Weekly Tui Gillies, Erica Heta, Emma Sawyer and Kristine Twigley - would you be able to send a before and after high-resolution photo to comps@nzww.co.nz ASAP? We would like to feature you in our magazine! Unfortunately: I was on holiday at Tolaga at the time, and they gave me less than 24 hours to send them. I also replied to them and asked them to phone me with further information (as I might be out walking) and they emailed again instead of phoning, so I also missed the 2 hour extension to get the photos to them. This was so typical of NZWW in this competition. They definitely need to shake up their communication methods, while the internet is the new way.....asking someone for photos should be done in person, especially for a publication. Nevermind - not sure I would have wanted my before photo in a National Magazine anyway. I will make my mark on here instead.
